Whether simple or complex, private or public, decisions are an essential part of your life. Making good decisions is a skill that can be taught, and mastering the art of critical decision making is a crucial way to improving your work and home life. Understanding the components that go into decisions, and having an approach to structuring decisons can enable you to make sounder choices that produce better results.
This fascinating presentation will cover a variety of issues, including:
- Objectives – the starting point of clear decisions
- Setting priorities – must do’s, should do’s, and nice to do’s
- Constraints – understanding what’s possible
- Developing options – testing the walls and fences
- Testing options – The role of the devil’s advocate

- Implementation – what comes after the decision?
Bob Frisch, Managing Partner of The Strategic Offsites Group, is the author of three Harvard Business Review Articles on decision making. He has lectured at both Harvard Business School and the Yale School of Management, and is currently Managing Partner of The Strategic Offsites Group. His upcoming book, Who’s in the Room?, will be published in January by Jossey-Bass/Wiley.
