For more than forty-five years Professor Sexton has been a member of the regular faculty at
Columbia University, teaching in the areas of marketing, international business, statistics, and
management science. He is a recipient of the Business School’s Distinguished Teaching Award.
For several years he was head of the International Business Division. He is Past President and
Board Member of the New York Chapter of the American Marketing Association and Past
President of the Association for International Business Education and Research, a consortium of
33 universities. He is the AMA representative to China. Professor Sexton is the chair of the
United States delegation to the annual International Marketing Trends Conference.
Professor Sexton played a major role in the design and development of the Columbia Marketing
Management Program, for many years rated number one in the world by the Financial Times,
and has served as Faculty Director of several other executive program, including the Executive
Program in International Management, the International Strategy Program, and the Program on
Building and Managing Brands. He served as Faculty Director of the Advertising Research
Foundation University. He has considerable experience with long-distance learning programs.
Professor Sexton has been a visiting professor at INSEAD and at the China Europe International
Business School (Shanghai) and has also taught for the University of California-Berkeley, the
Australian Graduate School of Management, Tsinghua University, the University of Tehran,
Skolkovo (the Moscow School of Management), CKGSB, the Hong Kong University of Science
and Technology, the Industrial Management Institute (Tehran), HEC, Jagiellonian University, the
U.S. Business School in Prague, and the University of Hawaii.
